‎"I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that." -- Martin Luther King, Jr

I visit my facebook home page, astonished at how many people rejoice over the fact that Osama Bin Laden is now dead. How can we rejoice over the death of another human being, so openly, unashamedly? I care about the people who have lost loved ones due to the terrorist attacks, I care that we have a safe country, I care... I do...But I WILL NOT openly and unashamedly express happiness over the fact that a life has been taken, no matter how evil the person... In fact I feel almost grieved, saddened...That he will never have a chance to repent, change, ask God for forgiveness... I wonder... Do people feel better now? The dead have been avenged, the evil killed... Are they relieved? Is their heart lighter, not heavy with pain and sadness?
He was a bad person, he killed innocent people...
Many children don't have a Mom or a Dad...
Many families lost their loved ones to war...
3000+ citizens lost their loved ones on 9/11...

What about his family?
His Mom...His Dad...
What about their feelings?

I DO NOT support HIM...(in case anyone is taking this the wrong way)
But...I will not rejoice over the death of another human...Darkness cannot drive out darkness...and hate for hate...multiplies hate...

What are your thoughts?

I know what ur saying... totally... I cannot condone what he did but neither will I rejoice in his life being taken....

I dunno, Mel... I can't say it bothers me all that much that people are glad he's gone- he was responsible for orchestrating a lot of evil; but I would be concerned about keeping things in check for fear of retaliation....

yes he was responsible for a lot of evil, but it just stunned me that we as Christians would rejoice over the fact that someone was killed, espec. an evil person...like i said...my first repsonse was sadness over the fact that we know where sinners who dont repent end up...
Fear would be an more adequet reponse, then happiness, i agree, because I doubt Alkida will just sit back and not retaliate... Violence begets violence

all true. it is really sad...but at the same time i'm sure it's a relief to know that they no longer have to worry about him. although honestly, they might have to worry more now that he's gone because of his followers. totally messed up, no matter how you look at it.
